Sam's First Christmas Pagent

Nothing gets me in the Christmas spirit like hearing the story of the Very First Christmas told through the mouths of babes.
This year, Samantha was old enough (by 2 weeks) to participate in the 3 year old Sunday School at church, and this weekend was the Sunday School's Christmas Program.

About a month ago, we got her song and lines to practice at home.  A notion so comical to us.  It's a miracle if Sam speaks in a full sentence, let alone, memorize a hymn and a few bible passages.  Nevertheless, we sang "Away in a Manager" over and over and OVER again with her.  She knew the song quite well.  She'd repeat most of the words back to us, and sometimes even finish the lines as we sang them.
Of course, we knew she would not "perform" in front of the whole church....but it was fun to try :)

The big night was upon us.  She got dressed up in her Christmas tunic that Grandma made, and I curled her hair all pretty...

The older kids did most of the service, but when it was their time to shine....the 3 and 4 year olds were led up to the front, and "AWAY IN THE MANGER" rang out!  (well, at least from all the older kids)

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head.
The stars in the bright sky look down where He lay;
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes.
I love thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky,
And stay by my cradle til morning is nigh.

Be near me Lord Jesus, I ask thee to stay
Close by me forever and love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
And take us to heaven to live with thee there!

I'm not sure if a single 3 or 4 year old made a peep...but they sure looked adorable standing up there with their hands folded in front of them...smiling away!
(this is the best I could do while holding Cash and not using a flash)
I am so proud of our little Samantha!  Even if she did not sing on that night...I know the Love of Jesus is in her heart.  A whole room came to hear the GOOD NEWS of GREAT JOY that will be for ALL PEOPLE, and she was part of that message!

at last I figured out the camera setting...and they were being led to sit down :(
